Frequently Asked Questions 1. How long does it take to train new users? I allow a minimum of 5 days of initial Counterpoint training. This gives you the BASICS of inventory, purchasing and point of sale operations. It is not meant to be the final training you receive. 2. How many people can be in a training session? As many as you have space for. (My hourly rate is the same.) I usually train end-users on-site, in very small groups based on who will be using that particular application of Counterpoint In order to share expenses, you may want to invite other local Counterpoint user to join you. Topics can be scheduled accordingly, based on which users want which topics. 3. Do you actually install Counterpoint? No. I am not a network or UNIX expert. You need to have Counterpoint installed, and all hardware peripherals functioning at the operating system level before I arrive. 4. Do you offer a training syllabus? No. Most of my training is done on-site, and it is tailored to the needs of the user. You determine the topics ahead of time, or during our first day's business process review. 5. Can you help us with accounting software interface setup? Absolutely. I have set up both the seamless interface and the export interface that Synchronics supports for several different accounting software packages. Although not specializing in accounting software, I can make Counterpoint relate to Accounts Payable and General Ledger as it was designed to do. 6. Do you offer phone support after your visit? Only in a very general way. Your SARA dealer is your first line of support. I also recommend that every user have a SYN Help-Desk contract, for emergency purposes. Because most of my work is on-site, I am not always available to answer calls in a timely manner. However, if you need to discuss a topic, and the discussion can wait several days until I am back in my office, I am glad to talk to you, at my same billable hourly rate. 7. Do you travel outside your area? Yes. I go wherever I am needed, both in the U.S. and outside the country. For places with expensive air fare, you may want to share my services and expenses with other users in your area. 8. How do you charge for implementation and training services? By the hour. Contact me for current rates. 9. What other charges will I incur to use your services? Plane fare from Charlotte, NC, as well as hotel and meals for the time I am away from home. 10. How much notice do you need to work with us? I usually schedule my time four to six weeks in advance. Lowest airfares can be booked three weeks in advance. 11. Does your training replace the classroom training that Synchronics offers? No. Synchronics training is an overview of ALL Counterpoint features. For this reason, one person from your organization needs to attend at some point. My training focuses on the Counterpoint features that will be appropriate for YOUR business. I start our time together by doing a Business Process Review. This helps me understand how you run your company, and which Counterpoint features can help you achieve your business goals. My training services are a cost-effective way to train several people in your organization. You bring the trainer to YOU, instead of sending several people to Memphis for training. 12. Summarize how you can help us. Think of me as your Counterpoint training resource, who is available to work at your site for a few days or a week.
